Exam development

The challenge

Working alongside the program manager for Pinterest’s certification program, I created exam content and provided logistical support for the launch of the first-ever Media Planner Certification. The goal was to offer digital marketers a professional credential to demonstrate their Pinterest advertising expertise to clients. The certification also served as an educational tool to encourage product adoption.

My role

Designed for media planners with 2–5 years of experience, one of my responsibilities was to develop remediation materials, including a study guide and practice exam. These remediation materials were used for both the beta and final exam launches. To develop the practice questions, I ensured they were closely aligned with the exam’s topic areas to give candidates a realistic preview of the experience. In collaboration with subject matter experts, I created 25 practice questions and included course links in the answer feedback to support further learning.

The results

Feedback from the beta survey indicated that participants found the practice exam helpful. It played a key role in improving preparedness and contributed to a strong pass rate. These results helped the psychometric team calculate the cut score as our team refined the final question pool for the official certification exam.
